Gannett must've had money to burn back then to invest in awesome news production, including hiring network voiceover artists to promote and open newscasts. Seeing that KUSA was an ABC affiliate at the time, Channel 9's owner could afford to hire Mr. ABC himself Ernie Anderson to promote 9NEWS and do its news opens.
